Alfred Russel Wallace (1823 – 1913), was one of the greatest natural history explorers of the 19th century. He was a passionate researcher, an unconventional thinker and an activist for social justice and environmental protection. Although he died a hundred years ago he was far ahead of his time. Together with Darwin he discovered the principle of evolution.
